A WORKSHOP is set to take place this month for people interested in discussing Artrix’s future.
This is the latest step to establish whether a new sustainable community arts and theatre operation can be brought to the venue.
It comes after the trustees of the charity which owns it received professional advice from industry consultants.
Chair of the Artrix Holding Trust, Anita Dale, said: “Like so many other people, the trustees want to get community arts and theatre back up and running at Artrix.
“That will take a community-facing approach, and we’ve been encouraged by the outpourings of public support for Artrix which have shown that community exists.
“We’re grateful to the many interested parties who have engaged with the process to date, and now with this workshop we want to see if all that support can become concrete proposals for a sustainable new business.
“Any community theatre relies on the support of its community, on being used and cherished, with enough enthusiastic volunteers and local audiences buying tickets for shows and exhibitions and hiring the facilities.
“Artrix is no different, and ultimately the level of community support will determine what is possible for the building.”
The trust has reissued its call for anyone who might want to volunteer their services to Artrix in the future to get in touch.
People wanting to register their interest in being contacted about any future volunteering opportunities at Artrix should email the trust at [email protected] indicating what they may want to contribute and how often.
Artrix, which opened in 2005, closed as a community theatre when its former operator folded just before Covid-19 restrictions began in 2020.
It has since temporarily served as the NHS’s mass vaccination centre for North Worcestershire.
