Rallying call for runners for this year's Headway Easter 5k Fun Run at Cofton Park

THE POPULAR Easter Fun Run organised by brain injury charity Headway will return to Cofton Park, writes Jonah Broom.

The 5k run takes place at 11am on April 14 and is ideal for anyone wanting to run, jog or walk.

All participants will receive a chocolate Easter egg and an Easter-themed medal.

Fancy dress is optional, with prizes awarded for the best Easter costume as well as to the first man and woman to finish.

There will be a host of other fun family activities on the day.

One runner who has already signed up is 40-year-old Gurinder Singh who attends Headway’s rehabilitation centre at Moseley Hall Hospital.

He will be completing the run with Becky Whenham, the charity’s acquired brain injury services manager.

Becky said: “Sport is an integral part of our rehabilitation programme and the benefits are far-reaching.

“It’s not about how fast we do it, simply that we give it our best effort on the day and enjoy it.”

Headway’s Easter Fun Run was a sell-out last year.

Places are strictly limited and so the charity recommends registering early to avoid disappointment.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Birmingham company Frenkel Topping places are £10 in advance or £12 on the day.

Children under 16 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
