THE Bromsgrove District Council Chairman has taken Queen Elizabeths’ II Book of Condolence around local care homes to give the elderly a chance to sign the book.
Coun Rod Laight visited several care homes across the Bromsgrove area on Friday (September 16) so residents can physically sign the book instead of doing online.
Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Rod Laight, said: “The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a monumental moment in the history of our country, and we wanted to ensure that all residents got the opportunity to share in this time of mourning.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting some of our more elderly residents who otherwise may not have had the opportunity or means to share their condolences with the Royal Family.
During the signings, residents could reflect on the many stories they had with the monarch and discuss the queen’s long service.
Coun Laight added: “It is safe to say that the residents were all equally heartbroken at the loss of such a stable and significant figure after so many years.”
Queen Elizabeths Funeral will be taking on September, Monday 19.
