PUPILS from Stoke Prior First School are now sitting more comfortably after Bromsgrove’s Men In Sheds made them some bespoke benches writes Shivani Chaudhari.

The retired handymen were contacted by the children who needed the seats for their Forest School cabin.

Forest School leader Eleanor Pincher said: “We are really so very pleased with our cabin benches.

“The Shedders were incredibly friendly and professional to work with.”

AGE UK (BRWF) representative Jo Hughes said this project was a great way for the community ‘give something back’ and provided the Shedders with a platform to showcase their skills.

Men In Sheds is run by Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest (BRWF) to help combat loneliness among the town’s older people. The group launched a Shed Share Scheme in March last year , receiving a great response from the Bromsgrove community to help them fund their work.

Anyone interested in joining or supporting Men in Sheds should call Jo on 01527 568855 or pop into ‘The Shed’ on the Metal and Ores Industrial Estate, Stoke Prior, between 10am and 2pm Monday to Thursday.
