CHILDREN from baby and child swim school, Puddle Ducks Worcestershire recently took part in their annual Water Safety Awareness Week, collecting pyjamas for the charity, Children’s Hospital Pyjamas.
Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a UK based charity which collects donations of brand-new pyjamas, from the public, which are then donated to Hospitals, Hospices, School Hospital Teams and Women’s refuges up and down the country.
These are then given to poorly or less fortunate children who are hospital inpatients.
Last year, Puddle Ducks Worcestershire, which runs classes in Barnt Green, Feckenham, Worcester and Malvern, donated 96 pairs of pyjamas which went to young patients of Worcestershire Royal Hospital – this year they are hoping their total donation figure will exceed this.
Puddle Ducks’ little swimmers took to the water in their lessons wearing their pyjamas.
Suzanne Horton, owner of Puddle Ducks Worcestershire said: “Yet again our Water Safety Awareness Week has been a great success.
“Knowing we are helping so many children makes me really proud.
“We had collection points at all of our pools and the donations will once again be sent to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
“The children not only had a great time getting involved, knowing they were helping other children, but at the same time were also learning some really important skills as well.”
A Children’s Hospital Pyjamas spokesperson said, “No child wants to be in hospital, but if they have to be, they don’t want to be wearing a hospital gown.
“With Puddle Ducks’ support, this year we have surpassed last year’s total establishments we donated to, from just under 200, we will now be able to gift pyjamas to in excess of 218 establishments so far.”
