THE LORD-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Mrs Beatrice Grant said she was deeply honoured to be representing the county at the coronation.

Ahead of yesterday’s event, she said: “I am deeply honoured to be able to represent Worcestershire at this momentous occasion.

“Whether you are watching at home, joining a community big lunch or attending a local event, I hope you enjoy this weekend and witness a wonderful piece of our nation’s history unfold.”

As always, Worcestershire has been getting into party spirit with a number of organised events being held around the county, as well as many community street parties or Big Lunches.

Today, Sunday, May 7, at 4pm, a service will be held at Worcester Cathedral to mark the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen consort.

The service will be led by the Dean of Worcester, the Very Reverend Peter Atkinson and the sermon will be preached by the Bishop of Worcester and Lord High Almoner, the Right Reverend Dr John Inge.

The service will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff, the Chairman of Worcestershire County Council and the Mayor.

A Civic procession from the Guildhall will arrive at the Cathedral at 3.50pm.

Everyone is welcome.

Message from The King and Queen

Ahead of the Coronation, Their Majesties issued the following message:

“Both my wife and I are enormously grateful to all the communities, families, neighbours and friends who are coming together across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to mark our Coronation.

“We greatly appreciate everyone’s efforts to organise such celebrations, and very much hope that they will be enjoyable and happy occasions.

“As we look towards the future, we feel deeply touched and sustained by the heartfelt good wishes and support of so many kind people around the country.”
