A PROLIFIC Bromsgrove shoplifter has been jailed after a string of offences.
Brian Alton, of Turntable Avenue, was sentenced to 10 months in prison after being found guilty of five counts of theft from a shop.
The offences relate to incidents at several shops in Bromsgrove between January 5 and 16.
The 59-year-old was also charged with failing to comply with the community requirements of a suspended sentence.
Alton was handed the sentence at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Sgt Sonny Wright from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: “As a local policing team, we welcome the custodial sentence handed to Alton this week as we know a lot of local businesses will too.
“Bromsgrove SNT has seen an uplift in officer numbers recently, meaning we are able to dedicate more time to dealing with issues that impact our community such as this.
“We will continue to robustly tackle shoplifting in the town.”
