Progress on Waseley Hills High School rebuild as contractor announced

Bromsgrove Editorial 20th Mar, 2024   0

CONSTRUCTION of the new Waseley Hills High School has taken a huge step forward, with the appointment of a building firm to deliver the project.

Tilbury Douglas, have been hired to lead the construction on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE).

Located in Rubery, Bromsgrove, the new 8,493 m2 state-of-the-art facility, comprising two core blocks, will replace the existing school and will cater to more than 1,000 pupils.

The building works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption to pupils, with teaching taking place in an operational building throughout the duration of the project.

The new facility will be net zero carbon in operation, maximising natural light and ventilation. Delivered over three phases, the project will be completed in its entirety in 2027.

Ian Mellor, executive principal of the school’s trust – Central Region Schools – said: “The start of our rebuild project is an incredibly exciting moment for the Waseley Hills community.

“The new school buildings will give our fantastic students the facilities they deserve and in which they can excel.

“Due to a high volume of applications to Waseley Hills this year, another form group has been opened and a small number of places are available for this coming September.

“Any interested families can contact Worcestershire Admissions for further information on applying.”

David Tighe, regional building managing director at Tilbury Douglas said:

“As a long-term delivery partner for the DfE, we are proud to be selected to deliver this replacement school, which will be an important asset to the educational estate locally.

“The new facility will serve the community long-term as an aspirational, future-thinking educational establishment.”
