THE FIRST ‘Octo-Mom’ Market, selling pre-loved children’s and maternity items, takes place from 11am to 4pm this Sunday, July 10, at Father’s Barn in Rubery.

The events were started when Ellen Nolan joined forces with fellow mums Angela Watts and Emma Taylor to organise the event.

Angie introduced Father’s Barn which was very happy to help with an abundance of great information and advice.

Having secured a venue, the trio came up with the ‘Octo-Mom Market’ and the ideas started flowing.

Ellen said: “We didn’t just want it to help local families earn and save money by selling and buying pre-loved children’s and maternity items, we wanted it to help support people.”

A support corner has been introduced which signposts parents to where they can get help and a donation station to drop off items. These helped improve future sales.

Further assistance was provided by businesses, such as Rafters Cafe, CCS Balloons and Abbey Signs and from NewStarts.

And the event received a letter of endorsement from Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid.

Ellen added: “We want the market to help local families save and earn money, promote local businesses and to work with other local community groups.

“We feel the market could become a great local hub for the area.”

Colouring competitions can be collected from CCS Balloons, Rubery Library and Rafters Cafe with amazing prizes donated by Empire Cinema, West Midland Safari Park, Hollywood Bowl, Clip and Climb and Everyone Active in Bromsgrove.
