POLICE are warning of a Facebook scam which appears to deliberately target those directly affected by flooding caused by Storms Dennis and Ciara.
The force says some suspicious posts have appeared on the social media site, claiming to be from banks and offering to replace lost cards or cash.
Det Supt Jon Cooper urged people if they did need monetary help in dealing with devastation to go directly through their bank or insurance company.
“Fraudsters may be targeting flood victims with fake credit card and cash replacement on Facebook – don’t click the bait.”
