PATROLS have been stepped up in Wythall and Drakes Cross after a spate of anti-social behaviour on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to Wythall Park around 4.30pm to reports of a group of teenagers being abusive towards other children and their parents.

Further calls were received around 7.30pm after the youths threw eggs and flour at Fanaris Fish Bar on Drakes Cross Parade as well as other motorists and passers-by.

In response to the issues and heightened community fears, West Mercia Police has stepped up its patrols in and around the Wythall area.

The local Safer Neighbourhood Team will also be holding a street surgery tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss residents’ concerns.

Officers and PCSOs will be in Drakes Cross Parade from 12pm until 1pm and Wythall Village Hall from 1pm to 2pm.

Insp Lee Page said: “I am aware of the levels of concern within the community following this completely unacceptable behaviour yesterday afternoon and would like to reassure local residents that we are treating it extremely seriously.

“Together with partner agencies and organisations through Safer Bromsgrove, we are working hard to deal with a very small minority of one or two individuals who we know have been causing problems recently around the Wythall area.

“I would encourage anyone who has any information or evidence – including photographs or video footage – in relation to yesterday’s incidents to contact police if they haven’t yet done so.”

Crime and other matters can be reported online via the West Mercia Police website
