Police launch arson investigation after fire at Rubery property

POLICE are investigating an arson attack in Rubery in the early hours of this morning.

The fire broke out around 1.45am on Maple Road when a person was seen throwing an object at a mobility scooter.

The vehicle then ignited and spread to the front of the house.

Firefighters from Bromsgrove and Northfield attended and put out the blaze.




One resident living nearby said she the object was some kind of explosive.

“We heard four loud bangs and then the fire started.”


She added it was lucky there were no injuries.

The porch and the front door suffered damage from the fire.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
