POLIC are investigating the death of a man in Northfield this morning.
The 44-year-old was found in the road on Bristol Road South just after 5am.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an injured patient on Bristol Road South at 5.10am.
“Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.
“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff administered advanced life support but sadly, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Officers are now working to establish exactly what happened and how the man came to be injured in the road.
West Midlands Police’s collision investigation team are examining the scene and local officers are speaking to local people and examining CCTV footage and other evidence.
A forensic post-mortem will be carried out in due cause to confirm how the man died.
The stretch of Bristol Road South between Bodenham Road and Chelston Road was shut as investigations continued byt has since reopened.
