BRITISH Transport Police have confirmed a man in his 50s died at Bromsgrove Station yesterday after being hit by a train.

The incident happened around 6pm.

Police and paramedics attended the incident but nothing could be done to save him.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

“Ambulance staff checked on the welfare of the train driver and other members of the public but there were no other patients.”

The BTP said the incident was not being treated as suspicious and officers have informed the man’s family.

A file is now being prepared for the coroner.

All lines were blocked and access to the platforms was closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

The services were running as normal at 9pm.

Road transport was organised between Longbridge and the town and Redditch and Bromsgrove while the lines were shut.
