WORCESTERSHIRE’S Operational Policing Unit (OPU) have been busy taking illegal drivers off the roads in Bromsgrove and Redditch.

In one incident yesterday on the Birmingham Road in Bromsgrove town centre, a Vauxhall was seized by officers after they ascertained a driver’s road tax had expired in October.

Earlier that day a man carrying a basket full of stolen items from the Tesco Express in Hollywood Road, Wythall, ran in front of a marked police car. On closer inspection he was found to have been driving without insurance so officers from the OPU seized his vehicle.

And the day before an uninsured BMW was seized by OPU officers in Beoley.

The police warned drivers on that occasion to make sure they themselves get their own vehicle insured after the motorist thought someone else had sorted out the policy.
