Police appeal after M42 crash and car fire between Hopwood and Bromsgrove which has left one man critical

AN APPEAL has been launched following a serious crash on the M42 in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The collision, involving a blue Seat Leon and a blue Volkswagen, happened around 12.15am between the on the westbound carriageway between Junction 2 (Hopwood) and Junction 1 (Bromsgrove).

The Seat Leon subsequently caught fire.

Three people were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.

One person remains in a critical but stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and driving without insurance. He has since been released under investigation.




Officers would like to hear from witnesses or anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the collision or either of the vehicles in the minutes before it.

The carriageway was closed for several hours while the emergency services dealt with the scene.
