Plenty more Christmas lights switch-ons in Bromsgrove district, including Rubery and Barnt Green

DESPITE the disappointment of Bromsgrove’s Christmas lights switch-on cancellations, there are still other big countdown events across the district.

Bromsgrove’s town centre lights are on now, albeit with no official countdown, thanks to Storm Bert.

But there are others taking place this week and next.

Rubery

On Saturday (November 30) Rubery Lights switch-on runs from 3pm until 5pm with the chance to meet Father Christmas and the Ice Queen, live music entertainment from international singer Chloe Barry and the chance to sing carols with St Chad’s Church. There will also be fresh doughnuts and Christmas stalls. The lights will be switched on by local youngsters who have won an art competition, Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Coun Sam Ammar and Father Christmas.

Barnt Green

Barnt Green’s event takes place in Millennium Park, Hewell Road, from 3.30pm until 7pm on Saturday, November 30.  30th November. Please see full details below. On offer will be live music and carol singing, festive food and drink stalls, a special visit from Father Christmas and the big lights switch-on at 5pm. A spokesperson for the event said: “Let’s come together to celebrate the holiday season and light up Barnt Green with festive cheer.”

Aston Fields

Aston Fields’ event takes place on from 2pm to 10pm on Sunday, December 1,




Alvechurch

Alvechurch’s event takes place at 4pm on Saturday, November 30.

Hagley

Hagley’s runs from 4pm to 7.30pm on Saturday (November 30).


Wythall

Wythall’s event takes place from 4.30pm to 5.30pm next Friday (November 29).

Each of the events will have their own festive entertainment to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio-holder for leisure, Coun Bernard McEldowney, said: “Once again there is an amazing line-up of festive fun across the district and what’s more, they are free.

“To help residents keep track of what’s on, we have created a postcard with all the dates and times on which is being distributed across the district including Parkside and libraries.”
