Plans to build 86 new homes on former toffee factory site

BELLWAY South Midlands is planning to build 86 new homes after they bought part of the former Blue Bird toffee factory site at Hunnington.

The new properties will be built where the factory buildings stood and will be part of a wider project to develop 108 homes.

The remaining 22 properties will be created by another developer by refurbishing two buildings on the old factory site.

The sweet factory stopped the production of toffee back in 1998.

Bellway already has detailed planning permission in place and they are aiming to start work on the site early next year.

Bellway South Midlands Land Director, Dan Forrester, said that the new homes will complement the retained buildings on the site and the neighbouring ‘model village’ to reflect its heritage.

“The redevelopment of the former Blue Bird toffee factory is an exciting opportunity to provide new housing on a self-contained brownfield site which lies within easy reach of local amenities and the surrounding countryside.

“Acquiring this land means Bellway can continue to help meet the growing demand for new housing, which is our focus in Worcestershire, as well as in neighbouring areas.

S“We are therefore keen to hear about other sites in the area that might be suitable for our high-quality, well-planned new homes.”
