A PLANNING application for a cinema, gym and food and drink outlets for Longbridge will also be considered by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee on Thursday (August 31).

The proposal, for Austin Avenue, has been put forward by St Modwen and would include a nine-screen cinema, to be operated by The Light, a 14,500 sq ft fitness centre will be occupied by The Gym Group, as well as six restaurants.

The proposed development would create around 144 new jobs once it was completed along with employment while it was being constructed.

Birmingham City Council’s planning officers have recommended it for approval subject to several conditions.

They relate to items including shop front design, lighting, drainage, noise levels and the need for CCTV.

It was also pointed out there was no consent for outdoor seating.
