PLANNING permission granted for the development of 370 new homes in Bromsgrove as part of a larger housing development plan across Worcestershire brings £5.8m investment into the county.

The planning application submitted by developer, Bellway and granted by Bromsgrove District Council will see the new homes built at Whitford Heights on Whitford Road, Bromsgrove.

The Whitford Heights development will include a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and the creation a large open public space built on a 42 acre site on the western edge of the town.

This development alongside plans for 86 new homes in Hunnington, follow the completion of three other Bellway projects completed across Malvern and Evesham.

The Bellway development at Hunnington will take up part of the former toffee factory site, where sweet making stopped in 1998.

In total, 108 homes will be built, 86 by Bellway and 22 others from another developer through the refurbishment of listed buildings on the site.

Bellway’s Orchard Place and Merry Brook Park developments in Evesham have brought a total of 429 homes to the area and over £5 million in contributions for infrastructure and facilities in the area including for sport, leisure, education, and transport.

2.8 million helped provide a pedestrian and cycle footbridge, while other contributions were made to schools, sports facilities and transport.

The Rosehips development in Malvern delivered 110 homes and resulted in more than £700,000 in developer contributions from Bellway including more than £200,000 for education, more than £180,000 towards traffic signal optimisation and junction improvements.

More than £110,000 spent to develop Victoria Park and more than £100,000 to improve the A449.

Matt Knight, construction director of Bellway South Midlands, said: “Our new developments in Hunnington and Bromsgrove are very much part of our commitment to Worcestershire, where we have recently completed three other developments, delivering hundreds of homes in Evesham and Malvern.

“It’s an added source of pride that as part of our planning agreements for projects in the county we are making important contributions to the infrastructure and services that will benefit the whole community as well as the homebuyers who move into our developments.

“We are looking forward to providing further high-quality homes at these two new attractive locations.”
