STUDENTS from Bromsgrove’s Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College have used their creative skills to revamp a cross installed in Catshill during the Covid pandemic.
Rev Latika Singh put the cross in during lockdowns as a place for people to pray while they were unable to enter the church.
Coun Shirley Webb noticed it was looking tired so suggested Chadsgrove’s upper school students could give it some TLC.
Plans were put in place and, using only recycled resources, they set about their task.
Realising they had many donated buttons, they decided to separate them into their various rainbow colours, decorated the cross with them and returned it to its rightful place last week.
Emma Nolan, Chadsgrove’s careers advisor, said: “It was an excellent work-related learning project and they had a brilliant time using their problem-solving, creative and teamwork skills.
“We hope it will be there as a place of reflection for the Catshill community for many years to come.”
