AN 89-YEAR-OLD man has died after he was hit by a lorry being driven in Wythall in the early hours of the morning.

It happened around 3am at the junction of the Alcester Road South and the Hollywood Bypass.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.

The pedestrian – from Kings Heath – was found by medical crews in a critical condition.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said crews immediately began administering advanced life support but despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Mercia Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have urged witnesses or anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage to call them on 101.
