A PERFORMING arts academy started by ‘Birds of a Feather’ star Pauline Quirke will be relocating to Bromsgrove’s Lickey End First School.

The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) will reopen at the school in Lickey End on Saturday, February 28.

It will reopen under a new name, PQA Bromsgrove and Redditch.

The weekend will showcase the performing arts school which offers dynamic and confidence‑building training for young people.

The academy is currently based at Arrow Vale Academy in Redditch.

Principal Ariya Amin said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring PQA to Bromsgrove.

“Our academy has grown so much in Redditch and this move gives us the opportunity to welcome even more families from Bromsgrove, Aston Fields, Lickey, Catshill and surrounding areas.

“PQA is all about building confidence, encouraging creativity and giving children the space to shine. We can’t wait to begin this new chapter.”

Pauline Quirke MBE, who starred as Sharon Theodopolopodous in the hit BBC sitcom opened the first academy back in 2007.

There are currently over 200 academies across the UK, operating on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The academy’s three‑module model includes comedy and drama, musical theatre, and film and television.

Alongside the Main Academy, which is open to people aged six to 18, PQA also offers Poppets classes for younger children aged four and five, introducing youngsters to creativity, confidence, and communication through playful performing arts sessions.

Students will be part of public performances, filmed projects, screenings, external showcases and access to industry‑experienced teachers.

To celebrate the launch, PQA Bromsgrove and Redditch is offering free taster sessions.

Ariya added: “Whether a child is outgoing and full of energy or quiet and looking for a safe, creative space, PQA welcomes everyone.

“We can’t wait to meet our new Bromsgrove families.”
