Parish council grant helps Lickey Hills rangers tackle unwanted plants

Bromsgrove Editorial 22nd May, 2024   0

LICKEY Hills Society have put a ‘very generous’ grant to good use by purchasing equipment to maintain the hills and tackle invasive species.

The society received £500 from Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council and in consultation with the hills rangers, purchased two new tree poppers to maintain heathlands and help remove unwanted plants such as weeds.

An additional £100 was provided by the society in order to purchase the equipment, which was imported from South Africa.

A spokesperson for the society said: “Thanks to Jill Harvey for making the application to the parish council and for raising the order which involved a significant discount.

“Thanks again to the parish council for their support of the Country Park and the Society.”
