A YOUTH was arrested and a knife seized at Longbridge Railway Station this afternoon.
Officers from British Transport Police and West Midlands Police were joined by Safer Travel Officers and West Midlands Railway Revenue Inspectors.
A knife arch was put in place next to the ticket office for all passengers to walk through and one youth was caught and arrested after being found in possession of the weapon.

Knife sweeps of the surrounding areas, including both platforms, were carried out at the start and end of the operation.
Numerous people were also caught for fare evasion – we are awaiting figures on the number of ticketless passengers caught.
PCSO Cindy Tierney told The Standard: “Operations like this act as a good deterrent and it also provides reassurance to law-abiding passengers.”
Earlier today, officers were at Northfield Station and, at the same time, as part of the joint cross-border operation between West Midlands Police and West Mercia Police, similar set-ups have been deployed at Redditch and Bromsgrove Stations.

The actions were carried out in conjunction with Operation Sceptre – the nationwide campaign to get knives off the streets – and Anti Knife Crime Awareness Week which began on Monday.
