OPERATION Enzyme has resulted in a significant reduction in car key burglaries and vehicle crime in Bromsgrove and Redditch.
The operation was launched on December 15 and is focussed on cross-border criminality.
It predominately operates across North Worcestershire and sees officers from several police disciplines working together to combat a rise in car key burglaries and other vehicle related offences reported in and around Bromsgrove and Redditch.
And this has resulted in a 57 per cent reduction of offences in and around Bromsgrove and a 48 per cent reduction in Redditch.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher who is the Head of Investigation, Vulnerability and Offender Management for West Mercia Police in North Worcestershire said: “Operation Enzyme pools our specialist Operational Policing Units and our local resources to target offenders who we know are coming over the borders from neighbouring areas and breaking the law.
“Intelligence led tactics are being used to identify these people, often part of more organised crime groups and who were ‘stealing to order’ and either deter them with high profile patrols or operations which is resulting in them being arrested and offending vehicles seized.
“The impetus will continue and so our determination to protect our communities from harm, both from within and from outside influences.
“The hard work and commitment of the officers who took part in Operation Enzyme yielded strong and reassuring results to date.
“The intelligence and the methods deployed in Op Enzyme are now part of our daily and nightly operations in Bromsgrove and Redditch.
So, this is fair warning to those who want to come into our communities and deprive local people of their property: we are here and we are waiting.”
