THE BASEMENT Project’s ‘Opening Doors for Young People This Christmas’ has generated almost £6,000 to support young people at risk of homelessness but more help is needed.

Donations have been made both online and through the local community’s fundraising efforts.

The campaign features moving videos shared across social media platforms which highlight the vital work of the charity’s dedicated team.

These include support workers, counsellors, and volunteers, along with the inspiring story of two young people who found hope and stability through The Basement Project.

So far, viewers have met Maisie, who works with young people across Worcestershire, and Owen, who shared his journey from homelessness to finding a safe place to call home. CEO Caleb Mallard has also given an insight into of The Basement’s day-to-day work at Hanover House in Bromsgrove.

One final video, being released on Monday, December 23, offers another moving story from a local young person.

The Basement Project thanks everyone who has donated so far, helped spread the word and, in particular, Music for Sanctuary which held a Christmas concert at St Mary’s Church in Kidderminster, bringing the community together and raising vital funds.

Mr Mallard said: “This campaign is about more than raising money – it’s about opening doors, literally and metaphorically, for young people who often feel they have nowhere to turn.”

Fundraising manager Kelly Turner, added everyone was grateful for all the support so far and urged anyone else who could help reach the £10,000 target to donate to the cause.

Visit basementproject.org or call 01527 832993 for more information on the campaign or to donate.

Cash and cheques can be dropped off at The Basement Project, Hanover House, until 2pm on Christmas Eve.
