ONE man has died and two others have been injured after a serious crash on the M42 last night where a car went down an embankment.
It happened on the stretch between Junction 3 (Wythall) and Junction 2 (Alvechurch).
Three paramedic officers, three ambulances, HART paramedics and two BASICS medics attended the scene.
Two men, the driver and passenger, managed to get out of the the vehicle and were described by West Midlands Ambulance Service as ‘walking wounded’.
Both were given treatment on scene for non-serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as a precautionary measure.
A third man, a passenger, was trapped and in a critical condition.
Ambulance staff worked together with firefighters to cut him from the the vehicle, before administering advanced life support treatment.
But, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
