A MAN has been arrested and a vehicle seized after another man died in a hit-and-run in Longbridge.
The incident happened around 11.15pm last night (Sunday). A pedestrian, a 34-year-old, was struck by the vehicle on the crossing near Longbridge Station before the motorist drove off.
The man was given treatment at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital but he sadly died later on.
Police stopped a vehicle this morning and arrested a 40-year-old man. He was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
West Midlands Police’s specially trained officers are supporting the dead man’s family during this difficult time.
Sgt Rich Evans, from West Midlands Police’s Serious Road Traffic Collision Unit, said: “We have arrested a man in connection with the fatal collision. However, we are still appealing for people with information to please contact us.
“We particularly want to speak to people who may have CCTV or dashcam footage which could help us with our enquiries.”
