Nursery youngsters go green in Barnt Green during Recycle Week

Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Oct, 2020   0

A VARIETY of activities aimed at educating and encouraging children to recycle were organised at a Barnt Green nursery.

Staff at Sandhills organised a recycling centre role play and the children, aged up to five, were taught how to recognise the recycling logo and separate which items could be used to make new ones.

A collage was also created using reused materials as part of the activities for Recycle Week which, now in its 17th year, ran from last Monday to Sunday (September 21 to 27).

The theme for the week was ‘Together We Recycle’.

Nursery manager Theresa Wright said: “Recycling is so important for the future of our children.

“The importance of recycling is massive for those we care for today – what we do now and how we act now will be what we leave behind for them.

“Giving our children the knowledge and tools to be able to create a more sustainable future is one of the best things we can do at nursery.”

Sandhills Day Nursery in Barnt Green is part of The Old Station Nursery Group which comprises of 19 nurseries around the country.

The group has a long-standing commitment to recycling and helping even the youngest children understand its importance.
