THE ROYAL Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) charity raised £1,040 by hosting its very own Big Tea Party to celebrate the NHS’s 74th birthday on July 5.

The NHS Big Tea campaign appealed to communities to fundraise on this special day for the NHS over a cup of tea and a slice of cake, with the money for this event going to the ROH charity.

Free cakes and sweet treats were handed out to inpatients and cards were handed out to patients to raise awareness of the NHS Big Tea.

Starbucks Maypole and Morrisons Bromsgrove made donations and Archies donated orthopaedic flip flops which staff picked up at a discounted price.

Staff and volunteers were given large Cadbury boxes to thank them for their work.

ROH Charity Manager Ali Gray said: “The NHS Big Tea campaign is so much more than just fundraising.

“It’s about raising the profile of NHS Charities across the region and the impact we can have on hospitals.

“It was so lovely to see staff from around the hospital come together to support the ROH Charity.

Chief executive Jo Williams added: “We wanted to take the opportunity to thank the staff for all for the incredible work they do.

“It’s also ‘World Chocolate Day’ on the 7 July – so obviously we had to blend both of these celebrations.”
