NORTHFIELD’S Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) has become the first in Europe to use revolutionary new technology that will transform how spine surgery is performed.
The Pulse platform from NuVasive, approved for use by ROH in August 2021, is a system to help surgeons to perform quicker, safer and more precise surgery by bringing all of the required technology into a single platform.
This will help surgeons to make operations less invasive and will reduce radiation exposure from MRIs by up to 80 per cent.
The procedure will enable patients to recover faster and get better surgical outcomes.
The Pulse Platform will be used along with Siemens Healthineers Cios Spin Mobile 3D C-Arm, which offers 2D and 3D imaging capability. It allows surgeons to plan for operations more effectively.
NuVasive is a world leading spine technology innovation company which creates innovative technology to achieve its goal of changing a patient’s life every minute.
Consultant spinal surgeon at ROH, Andrew Young, said: “This technology puts the ROH at the forefront of spinal surgery in the UK.
“We hope to use it to reduce the length of time people stay in hospital and reduce any complications.
“We’re excited about the benefits it will offer patients.”
