A NORTHFIELD man who stabbed a dad on his doorstep has been jailed for life and must serve at least 26 years.
Ahmad Al Sino was tracked and arrested just 40 minutes after killing Mohammed Ibrahim.
The incident, which happened at Mr Ibrahim’s home in Castle Vale just before 1pm on March 13, happened after the pair had fallen out after a family wedding.
The 55-year-old died at the scene and his son was seriously injured in the tragic attack.
Mr Ibrahim’s devastated family called 999 and police quickly began tracking Al Sino as the 43-year-old drove across the city. Armed officers were right behind Al Sino when he arrived at his home in Chatham Road and arrested him as he got out of his car at 1.40pm.
A search by police uncovered a plastic bag containing two knives – one was later found by forensic experts to have Mr Ibrahim’s blood on it.
Al Sino was found guilty of murder and attempted murder last month. A second man was found not guilty of the charges.
He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to life with a minimum term of 26 years.
Det Insp Damian Forrest, from the Homicide team, said: “Al Sino’s decision to carry and use a knife has resulted in the loss of a father’s life.
“His actions, which have rightly been brought to justice, underline the irreversible impact such dangerous decisions can have.
“We know that nothing will ever bring Mr Ibrahim back but we hope this sentence will provide some comfort to his family and friends.”
