A NORTHFIELD based Indian restaurant has again been nominated for a national award.
Omar Khayam is among the finalists for the Asian Curry Awards – dubbed the Curry Oscars – which take place at Grosvenor House in London on November 19.
The long standing restaurant, which has been trading since 1982, was recently named a finalist at Britain’s Top Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA).
The Asian Curry Awards are organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).
A spokesperson for the restaurant told the Observer: “It’s a tough category but being a finalist with some big names is a big win for us nevertheless.
“Omar Khayam Restaurant is going from strength to strength after our late owner and founder also received a ‘Legend Award’ back in 2018.
“Thanks must go to Mr Yawar Khan, founder of Asian Curry Awards who has always helped and supported us.”
Chair of ACF, Yawar Khan, said: “We’re seeing some remarkable innovation by pioneering restaurateurs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preferences.
“Afternoon chai, weekend brunch, more use of quality local produce – especially seafood and game, are now being widely served.”
