NORTHFIELD and Frankley men are among 11 who have been convicted of burglary offences after being arrested following a spate of ‘car key’ burglaries in North Worcestershire between December 2019 and 2020.

An investigation was carried out looking into 47 reported burglaries which were carried out on homes to steal the keys to vehicles, which would then be stolen from the home.

Ten of the men pleaded guilty to their charges on December 5, while the eleventh, 20-year-old Javarne Sawyers from Vinnall Grove, Birmingham, pleaded not guilty.

On Monday (December 19) Sawyers was found guilty on both counts of conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling and conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.

Gavarni Henry, 20 from Woodcock Lane, Northfield, 19-year-old Haydn Mccarron from HMP YOI Fetherstone and 22-year-old Jordan Lewis from Titania Gardens, Frankley, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling and conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.

Camron Kain from Long Nuke Road, Weoley Castle and Bailey Mcilroy from Lysander Road, Birmingham, both 18, also pleaded guilty to the same charges, as did 21-year-old George Syner from Woodbrooke Road, Birmingham.

Adam Stanfield, 29 from Prince Andrew Crescent, Frankley, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, as did 22-year-old Drew Bravington from Clunbury Road and 24-year-old Ibraheem Khan from Somerville Road, Small Heath.

And 32-year-old Lewis Whitmee-Craig from Barnsbury Garden’s, Newport in Pagnell pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods.

Det Sergeant Kirsty Hill who was the lead investigator said: “These men, predominately from the Birmingham area, caused misery for so many people in North Worcestershire.

“Their attitude is that if they like something you have, they will take it, often frightening and intimidating victims.

“We know perpetrators of car key burglary often target specific vehicles, based on demand and value.

“One of the most common methods used by thieves are to follow victims home or drive around residential areas looking for opportunities.

“If you think you are being followed or see any suspicious vehicles, take down the registration number and report it to police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“We would also like to remind people not to leave valuables on show in their vehicles as this can allow opportunistic thieves to strike.

“We do not take car key burglaries lightly; it will be thoroughly investigated and as you can see, perpetrators will be brought to justice”.

All the men will be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court early next year.
