THE NORTHERN Lights are visible across Bromsgrove and the rest of Worcestershire and Birmingham tonight.

These pictures of the Aurora Borealis, seen from St John’s Church grounds, were sent in by Jo Slade.

And there were numerous other pictures taken in Bromsgrove this evening of the impressive lights display.

The first time was on May 11 and then it happened again on October 11 last year.

The Northern Lights are a natural light display predominantly seen in the high-latitude regions around the Arctic Circle.

They occur when charged particles emitted by the sun, primarily electrons and protons, collide with gases in Earth’s atmosphere. These collisions release energy in the form of light.

The Northern Lights often appear in various colors, including green, pink, red, blue, and violet. The colours depend on the type of gas particles colliding with the charged particles and their altitude.
