North Bromsgrove High students and staff take virtual Valentine's trip to Paris for three causes

SIXTH-FORM students from North Bromsgrove High School undertook a virtual walk from the town to Paris to raise funds for three causes.

They carried out their fund-raiser – all dressed in red and ‘heading’ for one of the most romantic cities in the world – on Valentine’s Day.

The first cause was HB9 – a charity foundation set up in memory of much-loved Harry Bennett.

Harry, who died after a short illness aged 16, loved sport and played rugby for Kings Norton Rugby Club and football for Meadow Park Football Club, as well as cricket.

HB9 helps young people to achieve their sporting dreams by supplying financial support for equipment and training.

The second cause will be chosen by North’s year 13 student Sofia Whitcombe whose mum recently passed away – the family were raising funds for treatment, but the cash collected will instead go to a charity of Sofia’s choosing, in honour of her mum.

The final cause is to provide financial support for any sixth-form students to enable them to attend the summer ball in June.

Students completed laps of the school grounds to clock up the 339miles needed.

They also held a cake sale and want to thank Asda Bromsgrove for donating the cakes and Becca Moncrieff’s mum who spent ages baking.

Students have so far raised £610 of their £1,000 target – visit gofundme.com/f/6th-form-bromsgrove-to-paris-challenge for more and to donate.
