THE HEADTEACHER of North Bromsgrove High School has moved to reassure parents over staff changes which will see several teachers leave their posts today.
A letter has been sent out by headteacher Angelina Robin-Jones to explain the situation
It thanked parents for their patience and said: “Unlike other work places where staff can come and go throughout the year, schools are governed by strict leaving and starting dates, which means that staff can only (generally) move from one school to another three times in the year, in September, January and April.
“We usually see this level of movement in the summer term, but we cannot control the appointment pattern of other schools, which this year has resulted in a number of colleagues taking up their new posts in January.
“Although we are always sad to see colleagues leave, I am, of course, delighted that they are moving on to their new roles to satisfy their personal and professional aspirations.”
She added the school had worked hard to recruit new teachers for the roles and a lot of work had been done behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition for staff and students.
We contacted the school after concerns were raised about the number of teachers leaving and it was also suggested that more were set to leave in Easter.
We were also told one of the teachers who was unhappy with the way the school was being run was keen to meet with the governing body to explain their reasons for leaving.
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: “Worcestershire County Council has set processes in place if a member of staff at a school wishes to raise a grievance.”
