NORDIC walkers from Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch are getting geared up for a 24-hour race through the Cotswold tomorrow (Saturday) in aid of a homeless charity.

The entrants are required to walk a 9km course as many times as they can in the space of 24-hours.

Nordic walkers will be taking on the gruelling challenge to raise money for Socks and Chocs, a charity which ensures homeless people have regular access to a clean pair of socks.

The charity was first launched in 2010 by Ian Northcott who was awarded a British Empire Award in recognition of his efforts.

Ian said: “For some of my walkers, this is their first endurance event and they won’t know how their bodies will react. I am indebted to them for their efforts on behalf of Socks and Chocs.”
