New Rubery fitness class helping mums get into shape off to a flying start

THE NEW fitness class in Rubery to help mums get into shape after having children has got off to a flying start.

Hot Mommas, run by Kirsty Edwards, takes place from 10am to 10.45am at St Chad’s Church every Monday.

Kirsty, who is a PE teacher and has been a personal trainer for the last six years, was motivated to start the group by her own seven-month-old daughter.

“I was feeding her one day and I thought about how much I would love to start exercising again.”

She added she did not really want to leave her little girl so created the group as a way for mums to get the best of both worlds.

The sessions offer like-minded mums the chance to exercise together and target the ‘problem areas’ following pregnancy and birth. They also help participants become more confident.

“For the first session we had five mums come along and for the second we had 15 so the word is spreading and it becoming more popular.”

The hall is available from 9.45am so mums can come in a bit earlier and get their little ones settled and find a space for their workout.

For the first week Kirsty ran a ‘bums, legs and tums’ session and for Monday’s it was boxercise.

The next one will be circuits and Zumba.

After each class the mums stay behind to chat or some of them take their children to the nearby St Chad’s Park.

The sessions are £3 per person and babies and toddlers are welcome.

Call Kirsty on 07745 575272 or email [email protected] for more information.
