A NEW primary school will open in Bromsgrove District in September 2023, after being improved by the Department for Education.
Austin Park Primary Academy, opening in the Cofton Park area, will provide 420 new places for children aged between four and 11 and 52 full-time nursery places.
The Victoria Academies Trust school is among 21 new free schools across the country that will be delivered as part of the government’s school programme.
Gurinder Singh Josan CBE, chair of the trust, said: “This is excellent news for the children, families and community of Cofton Park.
“The free school application process is rigorous and demanding and we are proud to have been successful. It’s a testament to the hard work of the team behind the bid.
“This will be a purpose-built school tailored for the specific needs of the children who we look forward to welcoming over the years to come.”
Sharron Philpot, CEO of the trust, said: “We are passionate about ensuring that every child has access to a quality education enabling them to be the best they can be.
“By answering the call to provide much needed places in this area, including provision for a Mainstream Autism Base, we really do believe we can impact on the lives of many more children.”
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid said he is delighted that families across the district will benefit from the academy opening.
“Delivering a word-class education system is at the heart of our efforts to level up opportunity across the country, and by ensuring every child gets a good education, we can help them unleash their potential,” he said.
