BUDDING young musical theatre performers are being invited to be a part of a new project in Bromsgrove, writes Aine McLean.
THE STAR project, Worcestershire’s renowned musical theatre training company known for nurturing young talent for the last 20 years, is proud to launch the SP Young Company.
Solely available through auditioning, dedicated and experienced performers aged 12-18 are being encouraged to take advantage of the opening to expand their skills and future opportunities.
Auditions will take place on June 6 in the Studio Theatre at The Artrix, only open to 15-17 of the most elite and hardworking performers,.
The audition requires for candidates to: prepare a verse and chorus from a musical theatre song, perform a monologue, submit a personal statement and participate in a dance call.
Successful candidates will form a company and rehearse every Friday evening during term time from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at £20 per session.
As a non-profit organisation, all funds raised go directly to supporting the company and continuing the development of young performers.
The first session for those selected will be on June 20, the first project being a Bridgestone Style Immersive Theatre Afternoon Tea, where the actors play characters while the live audience will solve the clues presented in the performance.
Jo Payne, Director of The Star Project, says, “SP Young Company is an exciting new chapter for young performers ready to push creative boundaries and grow into confident, professional artists.”
“We are proud to find a place where their passion can truly flourish.”
Members chosen will work closely with industry professionals to develop and perform original productions alongside familiar musicals, gaining them indispensable experience in singing, acting and dance.
SP Young Company is the perfect next step for any teens passionate about musical theatre.
