A NEW programme to aid residents with arthritis and joint pain is kicking off in Bromsgrove soon.
The ESCAPE-Pain programme at Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre aims to help participants understand their condition and develop self-management skills.
There are specialised courses designed to help those who experience knee, hip, or back pain and are led by experienced professionals thanks to collaborative efforts from Bromsgrove District Council and the Orthopaedic Research UK.
Participants will use a progressive exercise programme to encourage safe and sensible exercise as part of a pain management strategy.
Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, councillor Shirley Webb, said: “Specialist classes like these provide vital resources to our residents.
“Empowering them to better their lives through activity and education. This course being free shows out commitment to enabling the people of Bromsgrove to lead happy and healthy lives.”
The next course will begin on Wednesday, November 6. The course consists of 12 sessions across a six-week period: Wednesdays at 2pm and Mondays at 1pm. All sessions take place at Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre.
Contracts Manager from Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre, Benjamin Betteridge, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Bromsgrove District Council to bring ESCAPE-Pain sessions to the local community.
“This programme is immensely beneficial for those experiencing osteoarthritic pain, providing them with accessible exercises and pain management strategies to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
“At Everyone Active, we’re committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to engage in physical activity, and we hope these new sessions help those with knee and hip pain lead more active lifestyles.”
