BROMSGROVE Sporting FC is the official partner of the town’s Walking Sports Centre, it was announced this week.
The club has teamed up with Alan Gormley who is vying to make Bromsgrove a walking sports centre of excellence.
And this week Sporting representatives visited Alan and his team during a walking football session to present them with some equipment.
The club sees the partnership as another way to encourage more people in the district to play the Beautiful Game.
Mr Gormley said he was delighted with the link-up.
“We share many values, including community engagement.
“The club and their supporters have been fantastic in their support of our walking football sessions.
“We look forward to developing the partnership further in the future.”
Bromsgrove Sporting director Sarah Titmus added: “This is a great opportunity for Bromsgrove to continue our community work, by increasing participation in the local area.
“We have a good platform at the club to help promote and support these fantastic community projects.”
Casual walking football sessions run every Tuesday from 11am to 12pm at Bromsgrove Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Club and the sessions which were held at the Ryland Centre on Wednesdays from 12pm to 1.30pm have been moved to the hockey club’s astro pitch as well to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
With that in mind, walking footballers will touch boots before kicking off as all handshakes, fist pumps and elbow touches are banned
Further sessions are being planned.
