A NEW south Birmingham care home has received a special blessing from the local vicar ahead of the first residents moving in, writes Zara Parkes.

Cofton Park Manor Home opened this week, creating 45 new jobs as well as residential, dementia and nursing care for people.

It also provides a range of rooms.

The home, built on the former Clarks Motors site, invited schoolchildren from Lickey Hills Primary School to name the communities within the home, which will be revealed later in the year.

This week, Rev Sheri Gidney from nearby Holy Trinity Church blessed it’s opening.

Kerry Hill, home manager and registered nurse, said the team was thrilled with the reverend’s blessing and was grateful for the warm welcome from the local community.

“We can’t wait to open our doors this month, and we look forward to welcoming our first residents.”
