HEREFORDSHIRE and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has teamed up with Bromsgrove-based band Split Second for a new song to promote mental health support for youngsters.
Split Second, a band made up of teenagers, have written a song called ‘Reach Out’ detailing the impact of the Covid pandemic on their own mental health.
The song’s core message is to encourage other young people to open up and talk if they were struggling.
Several busking events were arranged over the summer and the performance of ‘Reach Out’ has been turned into a music video which launches on Thursday, October 6.
Health trust staff have been on hand at the events to share information about mental health care and support.
The music video is part of a wider campaign to tackle poor mental health which will include sessions in schools and community art displays.
Split Second guitarist Levi Husbands, who wrote Reach Out, said: “Lockdown had a big impact on my own mental health which led me to the NHS and the writing of this song.
“We hope anyone who hears the track is encouraged to ‘reach out’. You are not on your own and there are people and organisations out there who can help.”
