REPRESENTATIVES from Network Rail will provide the latest details on the long-awaited lifts to make Barnt Green Station more accessible.

The presentation will be given at the annual general meeting of Barnt Green Parish Council at 7pm next Monday, April 22. at The Friends Meeting House, Sandhills Road, Barnt Green. They will detail when the work may take place and associated disruption.

We have reported on the long quest for lifts at Barnt Green Railway Station which is one of the least accessible stations for disabled people in the country.

Although the approval and the finance was agreed by the Department for Transport in June 2023, no installation date has been given.

As well as any questions people have, residents can also raise any issues with the council.

The Parish Council’s active pursuit of lifts was triggered by the installation of a new footbridge in 2015 as part of the electrification to Bromsgrove.

The new structure had more steps than the old footbridge and so should have incorporated disabled access to comply with the Equality Act 2010.
