A MUSIC, food and drink festival this weekend will kick off a series of events which will take place over the next six months across Bromsgrove.

Using cash from the Government’s Welcome Back Fund and under the ‘Your People, Your Places, Your Bromsgrove’ banner the free festival, at BirdBox, will feature a range of local vendors and performers to showcase the talent on the district’s doorstep.

Among the independent Bromsgrove catering outlets offering fantastic food and delightful drinks are Ascotts, Bayleys, Betty’s Waffles, No.3a and Pizza Heaven.

A number of projects will run over the next six months as the council and NWEDR work across the district’s centres to spend the money allocated by the Welcome Back Fund, part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The cash is specifically for supporting the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the pandemic.

Bromsgrove District Council leader, Coun Karen May, said: “Like councils across the country we have benefited from these funds and it’s important we invest it to benefit our residents.

“We will be visiting our centres to find out where best to invest the money, whether this be in street furniture, a clean-up project or an event.

“I am delighted the inaugural event will take place at BirdBox and I hope as many people as possible turn up as we continue to work towards a Better Bromsgrove for everyone.”

The festival starts at 12pm and runs until 6pm on Saturday, October 23.
