WEST Mercia Police have urged all motorists in the area to be extra vigilant with vehicle security after a spate of key-less car thefts in recent weeks.

Detective Constable Jodi Lothian urged motorists to ensure they secure their vehicles.

“Offenders are managing to get into the vehicles so we would ask car owners to consider the use of steering locks, drop down security posts on driveways and immobilisers to prevent the cars being driven off,” said DC Lothian.

The advice is particularly aimed at owners of Fords after thefts from both retail car parks and residential properties in the area.

Incidents of Fords stolen in recent weeks include a white Ford Transit stolen without keys from Bromsgrove Road between April 23 and April 24.

A Ford Fiesta was also stolen at knifepoint in Goodrest Lane, near Wythall on May 2 before being crashed on Groveley Lane, Longbridge.

And a Ford Focus RS was located just hours after being stolen without keys from Hartle Lane, Belbroughton on May 12.

Then on May 21, a grey Ford Fiesta ST was stolen from a pub in Romsley without keys.
