A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a serious crash in Northfield early this morning.

The collision, involving the rider on the red Honda CBR 600, happened on Sir Herbert Austin Way.

The 30-year-old man was rushed to hospital, but he suffered serious injuries and sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead hours later.

The crossroads at the junction of Bell Hill and Bell Cross were closed while West Midlands Police officers carried out their investigation.

Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said, “Our thoughts go out to this man’s family and friends who are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.”

He said at this time it was not believed any other vehicles were involved but he appealed for any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage around the time of the crash to call police on 101, submit information via live chat at west-midlands.police.uk or email footage to [email protected].
